The Hunt - New Model Army/Sepultura
We Went Into Town On The Tuesday Night
Searching All The Places That You Hang About
We're Looking For You
In The Back Street Cellar Dive Drinking Clubs
In The Discotheques And The Gaming Pubs
We're Looking For You
You Will Pay The Price For My Own Sweet Brother
And What He Has Become
And A Hundred Other Boys And Girls
And All That You Have Done
We Picked Up The Trail At The Seven Crowns
One Of Your Cronies - He Was Doing Your Rounds
We Followed Him
Just A Silhouette Figure Up Market Pass
Where The Headlamps Shine On The Broken Glass
We Followed Him
Over The Bridge By The Old Canal
Where The Shadows Dance On The Lighted Wall
He Stopped To Light Up A Cigarette
And We Dived Into A Doorway
No Police, No Summons, No Courts Of Law
No Proper Procedure, No Rules Of War
No Mitigating Circumstance
No Lawyers Fees, No Second Chance
There Are Lasses Getting Trouble On Their Own Home Beat
There Are Old Folk Battered In The Open Street
In This City Of Ours
There Are Eyes That See But Say Nothing At All
There Are Ears That Hear But They Don't Recall
In This City Of Ours
So We Followed Your Man Back To Your Front Door
And We're Waiting For You Outside
'cos Not Everybody Here Is Scared Of You
Not Everybody Passes On The Other Side
No Police, No Summons, No Courts Of Law...
And We Could Spent Our Whole Lives Waiting
For Some Thunderbolt To Come
And We Could Spent Our Whole Lives Waiting
For Some Justice To Be Done
Unless We Make Our Own
No Police, No Summons, No Courts Of Law...

The hunt... Great song by New Model Army released in 1986. As you can see, the song deals with a hunt, but a very peculiar one. The hunt is being done in clubs, discotheques and pubs. Doesn't take a genius to know who they are hunting down. Dealers...
A big part of the song deals with how they followed one of the dealers. This part has a very 80s thriller feel to it. And when it says "No Police, No Summons, No Courts Of Law", you know what they're talking about... One very nice part is:
This part shows the real deal about all this. We all see things and never say anything against it. Just after that comes an even nicer part. It goes like:

Honestly, it takes a genius to write this kind of things. In fact, I presume the song deals with hard drugs and how our own population gives in to it, never saying anything against. Great say.
When I listen to this song, I imagine a group of youngsters going hunting for those dealers. And I think it takes a lot of courage to do so. Great write up New Model Army and great singing Sepultura. Max Cavalera (Sepultura) has got a good voice on that one. Very melodic and less aggressive. To sum up, the Sepultura version is a metal one and the New Model Army one is a rock one.

Be back soon peeps. Take care, and go hunting. \m/
Aaah! I'm glad you got back to it! :D I have never listened to this song but got a feeling I'll love it. I like the word hunt, hihi, it's wild. Hmm, yeah it takes lots of courage to go hunting for dealers. Nice say!
Thanks. Glad to know you liked it.
I think the lyrics are pretty powerful in this one and as with a lot of their other songs they are speaking out about the injustices that go on day to day...
"My Own Sweet Brother" is obviously a fairly emotive lyric.
Perhaps more people should be like these guys?
Indeed Jono, the lyrics are pretty amazing on this song. It's great that Sepultura they did a cover out of it.
And yes, more people like them. ;)
